Husky Sailors return to campus, and the water

The Husky Sailing Team is back on the water this fall with more than 60 team members on the roster. The Team returned to campus and Lake Washington in late September with Max Miller ’25 and Kirin Dhaka ’27 as the 2024-2025 Team Captains.

On September 28, Sammy Farkas ’27 represented the University of Washington at the PCCSC Women’s Singlehanded Championship, the first conference championship of the year. Since then, the Huskies have hosted a clinic and the annual Cascadia Cup high school/college regatta. They recently sent sailors to Eugene, Oregon to compete and have five other events on the fall schedule. Follow the Husky Sailing Team on Instagram for the latest regatta updates.

The Team, with support from Husky Sailing Foundation (HSF) Board Member Jim Skeel, has also undertaken boat repairs and annual maintenance for their 12-boat fleet. The Husky Sailing Advisory Committee, spearheaded by HSF Vice President Carol Buchan, also resumed meeting with the start of the new academic year. The committee brings together current team members with Husky Sailing alumni, faculty advisors and coaches, to provide continuity and support to the team throughout the year.

The Team ended the 2023-2024 school year strong with an appearance at the Women’s Fleet Racing National Semi-Final Championship in May — and an appearance at Seattle Yacht Club’s Opening Day Parade!

On December 3, the Team and HSF Board will meet on campus for our annual Town Hall meeting as HSF continues to support the latest generation of Husky Sailors with funding, leadership and long term vision. Lend your support by making a gift to the Husky Sailing Foundation today.
